The RIMC Entrance Exam for enrollment of both male and female candidates into Class VIII for the January 2025 term is scheduled to take place at designated centers across the country on June 1, 2024 (Saturday). Candidates will undergo examination in the following subjects:

Eligibility Criterion:
1. Educational Qualification: The Candidates must be either enrolled in Class VII or have successfully completed Class VII at a recognized school by the time of admission to the RIMC, specifically on January 1, 2025.
2. Age: Both male and female candidates are eligible to seek admission to RIMC, Dehradun. Applicants should fall within the age range of 12 to 13 years as of January 1, 2025, meaning they should have been born between January 2, 2012, and July 1, 2013. It is important to note that any requests for changes in the originally provided date of birth will not be entertained by the college authorities at a later stage.
Schedule of Examination
1. Written Examination. The examination is set to be held on Saturday, June 1, 2024, according to the following schedule:-
(a) Mathematics
(b) General Knowledge
(c) English
2. Viva-Voce: The viva-voce will be conducted exclusively for candidates who successfully pass the written examination. The list of qualified candidates will be forwarded to the respective State Governments by RIMC, subject to approval from HQ ARTRAC. The date for the viva-voce, primarily aimed at assessing the intelligence, personality, and communication skills of the candidates, will be communicated at a later time.
3. Central Government employees' dependents are allowed to undertake their examination and viva-voce either at the employee's place of posting or their domicile state. However, their candidature will be evaluated based on their original domicile state. Consequently, it is mandatory for such candidates to submit their applications in the state where the examination is scheduled to take place.
4. Result: The results will be published on the RIMC website, www.rimc.gov.in. Candidates must regularly check the website for the latest updates on their application status. It is mandatory for all selected candidates to join RIMC within 10 days upon receiving the Joining Instructions, which will be sent to the email ID provided in the Application Form.
Procedure to Obtain Application Forms
1. The Prospectus-cum-Application Form and Old Question Papers Booklet can be acquired from The Rashtriya Indian Military College, Garhi Cantt, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, Pin- 248003 through the following methods:-
- (a) Online Payment: You can obtain the Prospectus-cum-Application Form and Old Question Papers Booklet by making an online payment of Rs 600/- for General Candidates and Rs. 555/- for SC/ST candidates on the RIMC website, www.rimc.gov.in. Upon receipt of the payment, the Prospectus-cum-Application Form and Old Question Papers Booklet will be dispatched exclusively through Speed Post.
- (b) By Sending Demand Draft: To obtain the Prospectus-cum-Application Form and Booklet of Old Question Papers, please send a written request along with a demand draft. The demand draft should be of Rs 600/- for General Candidates and Rs. 555/- for SC/ST candidates, favoring "THE COMMANDANT RIMC FUND," payable at HDFC BANK, BALLUPUR CHOWK, DEHRADUN, (BANK CODE-1399), UTTARAKHAND. Make sure to enclose a caste certificate. Clearly type or write the address in CAPITAL LETTERS, including the Pin Code and contact number. Note that RIMC will not be liable for any postal delay or loss in transit of the prospectus due to an unclear or incomplete address, and delays caused by the postal department are beyond RIMC's responsibility.
Note: The only valid Application Form is the one issued by RIMC. Application Forms that are locally printed or photocopied and do not bear the RIMC Hologram (seal) will not be considered.
The application fee is non-refundable under any circumstances.
2. Documents: Submission of applications in duplicate is required. The essential documents that must be attached to the Application Form are as follows:-
- (a) Birth Certificate (issued by Municipal Corporation/Gram Panchayat).
- (b) Domicile Certificate of the candidate.

- (d) The candidate must submit an original certificate from the Principal of the current school. This certificate should include an attested photograph and state the candidate's date of birth (as per the school records) along with the current class in which the candidate is studying.
- (e) It is mandatory to provide a photocopy of the candidate's Aadhar Card (both sides). Failure to do so will lead to the rejection of the application.
- (f) Two passport size photographs.
Note: The Application Form must be submitted to the respective State Governments (as specified in the Guidelines to Admission) by April 15, 2024. Please be aware that the Application Form should be sent to the State Government and not to the Rashtriya Indian Military College, Dehradun, Uttarakhand.
3. Conduct of Examination by States /UTS: Requesting the states to organize the examination, kindly communicate the names and contact details (telephone, fax numbers, and email addresses) of the designated officers responsible for conducting the examination to the Commandant, RIMC, Dehradun, by April 25, 2024. Also, ensure effective publicity for the examination by publishing information in local newspapers at least two or three times through press releases before February 28, 2024.
4. Upon completion of the examination, please send the answer books for the candidates, along with the Application Form, enclosed in a sealed cover, to the Commandant, RIMC, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, (PIN-248003).
5. The viva-voce will be administered by the State Governments exclusively for candidates who have successfully passed the written examination, with the specific date to be communicated later. The composition of the selection board is concisely outlined in Para 8 of the Regulations Governing RIMC and is as follows:-
- (a) The Chief Secretary to the Government or, if the State Government deems fit, any other Secretary of the State Government nominated by the Chief Secretary.
- (b) Two military officers, with one of them not holding a rank below Lt. Col or its equivalent in the Army, Air Force, or Navy, will be designated. These officers will preferably be selected from the closest Military Station, and all expenses related to TA (Travel Allowance) and DA (Daily Allowance) will be covered by the Government of India.
- (c) The Director of Public Institutions for the State, the Director of Education, or a senior officer nominated by them.
- (d) If possible, a member of the State Public Service Commission should be included.
6. The viva-voce results should be promptly submitted in a sealed envelope to the Commandant, RIMC, Dehradun, immediately after the viva-voce. Simultaneously, the results must be communicated via email on the same day to the following email address: rimc-uk@nic.in.
7. Medical Examination: Only candidates who have been ultimately selected after the viva-voce will undergo a Medical Examination at designated Military Hospitals. Only those candidates deemed medically fit will be eligible for selection and admission to the RIMC. It is important for candidates not to assume their selection until Joining Instructions are issued, and Call Up Notices are sent to them by the College authorities.
8. Under no circumstances are candidates, parents, guardians, relatives, or friends allowed to approach any officer in the Service Headquarters or any individual involved in the candidate selection process. Any such attempt is subject to potential rejection of the candidate.
9. Enclosed is a copy of the Press Note issued in connection with this matter for your reference. Kindly publish the Press Note as provided in the notification.
