The Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC) stands as a prestigious institution in India, known for its rigorous academic and military training. Aspiring candidates aiming to join this esteemed college must go through a competitive entrance examination process. The RIMC Entrance Examination for admission of boys and girls to Class VIII for the July 2025 term will be conducted at designated centers across the country on December 1, 2024 (Sunday). The candidates will be assessed in the following subjects:

1. Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for the RIMC Entrance Exam for the July 2025 term, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Age Limit: Both boys and girls are eligible to apply for admission to the RIMC in Dehradun. Candidates should be between 11½ and 13 years of age as of July 4, 2025, meaning they must have been born between July 2, 2012, and January 1, 2014. Applicants should note that requests for changes to the date of birth originally provided will not be considered by the college authorities at a later date.
  • Educational Qualification: The candidate must either be studying in Class VII or have completed Class VII from any recognized school at the time of admission to the RIMC, which is on July 4, 2025.

2. Examination Schedule

  • Written Examination: The examination will be conducted on December 1, 2024 (Sunday), according to the following schedule:

  • Viva-Voce: The viva-voce will be conducted only for candidates who pass the written exam. The list of qualified candidates will be sent to the respective State Governments by the RIMC after receiving approval from HQ ARTRAC. The date for the viva-voce, which is primarily designed to assess the intelligence, personality, and communication skills of the candidates, will be announced at a later time.
  • Children of Central Government employees may take their exam and viva-voce either at the location of their parent's posting or in their domicile state. However, their application will be processed based on their original domicile state. Therefore, it is essential for these candidates to submit their application in the same state where they will be taking the exam.
  • Result: Results will be posted on the RIMC website at www.rimc.gov.in. Candidates are responsible for regularly checking the website for the latest updates. All selected candidates must join RIMC within 10 days of receiving the Joining Instructions. These instructions will be sent to the email address provided in the application form.

3. Procedure to Obtain Application Forms

You can obtain the Prospectus-cum-Application Form and the Booklet of Old Question Papers from The Rashtriya Indian Military College, Garhi Cantt, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, PIN-248003 through these methods:

  • Online Payment: To obtain the Prospectus-cum-Application Form and Booklet of Old Question Papers, please make an online payment of Rs. 600/- for General candidates or Rs. 555/- for SC/ST candidates at www.rimc.gov.in. The materials will be dispatched by Speed Post upon receipt of the payment.

OR

  • By Sending Demand Draft: To obtain the Prospectus-cum-Application Form and Booklet of Old Question Papers, send a written request along with a demand draft of Rs. 600/- for General candidates or Rs. 555/- for SC/ST candidates. The draft should be made payable to “THE COMMANDANT RIMC FUND” at DRAWEE BRANCH, HDFC BANK, BALLUPUR CHOWK, DEHRADUN (BANK CODE-1399), UTTARAKHAND. Include a caste certificate with the request. Ensure that your address is typed or written clearly in CAPITAL LETTERS, including Pin Code and contact number. RIMC is not responsible for any postal delays or losses due to an illegible or incomplete address. Any delays caused by the postal department are not the responsibility of RIMC.

Note:

  • Only the Application Form issued by RIMC will be considered valid. Applications that are locally printed, photocopied, or lacking the RIMC Hologram (seal) will not be accepted.
  • Application fees are non-refundable under any circumstances.

4. Required Documents:

Applications should be submitted in duplicate. The following mandatory documents must be included with the application form:

  • Birth Certificate (issued by the Municipal Corporation or Gram Panchayat)
  • Domicile Certificate of the candidate
  • SC/ST Certificate (where applicable)
  •  
  • An original certificate from the Principal of the candidate's current school, attested with a photograph, stating the date of birth (as per school records) and the class in which the candidate is enrolled, must be submitted.
  • A photocopy of the candidate's Aadhar Card (both sides) is required. Applications without this will be rejected.
  • Two passport size photographs

Note: The Application Form must be submitted to the respective State Governments (as specified in the Guidelines to Admission) by September 30, 2024. Please ensure that the form is sent to the State Government, not to the Rashtriya Indian Military College, Dehradun, Uttarakhand.

5. Please make the necessary arrangements to conduct the examination in the States. Send the names, telephone numbers, fax numbers, and email addresses of the officers appointed to oversee the examination, along with the request for Question Papers, to the Commandant, RIMC, Dehradun by October 10, 2024. Additionally, ensure that the examination is adequately publicized in local newspapers with at least two or three press releases before July 20, 2024.

6. At the end of the examination, please forward the answer books along with the Application Forms in a sealed cover to the Commandant, RIMC, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, PIN-248003.

7. The viva-voce will be conducted by the State Governments for candidates who have passed the written examination. The date for this will be announced later. The composition of the selection board is outlined in Para 8 of the Regulations Governing RIMC and will be as follows:

  • Chief Secretary to the Government, or another Secretary of the State Government appointed by the Chief Secretary if preferred.
  • Two military officers, with one holding a rank of Lt Col or equivalent from the Army, Air Force, or Navy. These officers should be chosen from the nearest military station when possible, with travel and accommodation expenses covered by the Government of India.
  • The State Director of Public Institutions, Director of Education, or a senior officer designated by them.
  • A member of the State Public Service Commission, if practicable.

8. The result of the viva-voce must be sent to the Commandant, RIMC, Dehradun in a sealed envelope immediately after the viva-voce is conducted. Additionally, please email the results on the same day to rimc-uk@nic.in

9. Medical Examination: Only candidates who are finally selected after the viva-voce will undergo a medical examination at designated Military hospitals. Only those found medically fit will be considered for selection and admission to RIMC. Candidates should not consider themselves selected until they receive the Joining Instructions and Call-Up Notices from the College authorities.

10. Candidates, as well as their parents, guardians, relatives, or friends, are strictly prohibited from contacting any officer at the Service Headquarters or any individual involved in the selection process. Such attempts will likely lead to the candidate's rejection.
