CMKP UP Sainik School, Lucknow, and UP Sainik School Gorakhpur Entrance Exam 2024-25 - General Instructions & Guidelines
Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey U P Sainik School, located in Lucknow, and the newly established U P Sainik School in Gorakhpur, are operated under the auspices of the U P Sainik Schools Society, overseen by the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh. These specialized institutions, sanctioned by the Government of UP, are dedicated to providing military-centric training, grooming selected students from Uttar Pradesh for a future in the officer ranks of the Indian Armed Forces through the National Defence Academy (NDA). Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey U P Sainik School in Lucknow is affiliated with the CBSE, New Delhi, while the recently established U P Sainik School in Gorakhpur will be affiliated with CBSE, New Delhi, starting from the academic session 2024-25. Admission Procedure:
Admission to the school is only available in April for students in grades 6 and 9. The written examination is usually held in January of each year to select candidates. Exam dates will be posted on the school's website.
Applicants must submit their applications online at https://www.upsainikschool.org/.
Eligibility:
(i) Both the applicant and the applicant's father must be residents of Uttar Pradesh.
(ii) The Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey UP Sainik School Entrance Examination, scheduled for December 24, 2023, has the following birthdate requirements for the academic session 2024-25:
Class VI: from July 2, 2012 to January 1, 2015 (inclusive).
Class IX: from July 2, 2009 to January 1, 2012 (inclusive).
(iii) Applicants may take the exam if they meet the following requirements:
Class 6 (Boys Only), Class 9 (Boys & Girls) UP Sainik School, Lucknow
Class 6 (Boys & Girls), Class 9 (Boys & Girls) (iv) UP Sainik School, Gorakhpur For admission to Class VI and IX, applicants must have completed Class V and VIII from a recognized school by May 20, 2024.
Procedure for Selection:
(i) In order to be admitted to the school, candidates must pass a written exam covering English, General Knowledge, Mathematics, and Intelligence. The exam is based on OMR. Three times the number of vacant seats will be invited for interviews based on merit. Following a medical examination and interview, admission is granted on the basis of merit. Ten seats are designated as Payment seats, which cost twice as much as Normal seats. Candidates will be offered payment seats in the order of merit up to the 100th rank.
(ii) The examination format consists of a single OMR-based question paper covering English, General Knowledge, Mathematics, and Intelligence, with a total of 200 marks and a time limit of 2 hours and 30 minutes.
Examination Centers:
The written examination is held in several locations throughout Uttar Pradesh, including Agra, Ayodhya, Bareilly, Gorakhpur, Jhansi, Meerut, Prayagraj, Varanasi, and Lucknow. The school retains the right to assign examination centers and may change them as necessary.
The Written Entrance Exam is held on a single day.
Syllabus:
The written examination syllabus is based on the curriculum of U.P. Board Class V/VIII / Central Board of Secondary Education / Council for Indian School Certificate Examination for admission to Class VI/IX, respectively.

Results:
The written examination results will be posted on the school's website, www.upsainikschool.org, and displayed on the school's bulletin board.
Physical Fitness:
Shortlisted applicants based on merit in the written exam must complete a medical examination in the format prescribed by the school and then appear for an interview on the school campus on specified dates.
Interview:
Candidates who pass the written examination will be interviewed at Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey U.P. Sainik School in Lucknow by a selection board.
Merit List:
(i) A merit list is created, and candidates are admitted in the order in which they appear on the list, taking into account the number of available vacancies and medical fitness.
(ii) During the written examination, interviews, and medical examination, candidates are responsible for making their own arrangements for boarding and lodging. There is no travel or daily allowance provided.
(iii) Candidates, their parents, guardians, relatives, or friends are not permitted to approach any school officer or anyone involved in the candidate selection process. Any such attempt will result in disqualification.
Reservation:
Out of the total vacancies, 27% are reserved for the OBC category, 21% for the SC category, 2% for the ST category, and 10% for the EWS category. Vimukt Jati will not be eligible for the ST category. If a false caste certificate is discovered at any time, the candidature will be withdrawn and legal action will be taken in accordance with the rules.
School Fee:
Please pay in full according to the class information provided below. The entire amount owed should be paid in a single bank draft made payable to the Principal, UP Sainik School, Lucknow. Alternatively, you can pay online through the school's website, www.upsainikschool.org. You must attend the school after paying the fees.
For the General Fee: Class 8 – Rs. 45,500 Class 9 – Rs. 46,000 Class 10 – Rs. 48,000 Class 11 – Rs. 44,500 Class 12 – Rs. 46,500
For the Self-financed Fee: Class 8 – Rs. 80,500 Class 9 – Rs. 81,000 Class 10 – Rs. 83,000 Class 11 – Rs. 79,500 Class 12 – Rs. 81,500
The above-mentioned amount must be deposited in a single installment. Payments that are incomplete will not be accepted. Please also make sure that any outstanding dues for your child are paid.
We recommend that you send the specified fee for your child's class on the day they are required to attend school. The school's deadline for fee submission is April 30, 2023. After this date, a late fee of Rs.100/- will be charged per day. If you do not pay for a month, your child's name will be removed from the student registry and they will be sent home, with the parents bearing full responsibility.
Agreement:
Parents or guardians of cadets must sign an agreement stating that if their ward does not appear for the Union Public Service Commission's N.D.A. Entrance Examination or, if selected, does not join the NDA, they will be required to pay a fine. to refund the entire amount spent on their son/ward during their stay at the school. This requirement also applies if the student leaves the school at any intermediate stage.
Important Instructions:
(a) The applicant's Personal Mobile Number and Correspondence Address are crucial for validations and future correspondence. Providing an incorrect or inaccurate mobile number may result in not receiving important updates.
(b) Kindly be aware that after fee submission, the applicant will not have the option to edit or update any application details. Requests for corrections in the applicant's information will not be accommodated after the application deadline (except during the correction window).
(c) The applicant is not mandated to submit a physical copy of the Final Application Form or any supporting document(s) to the Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey UP Sainik School, Lucknow.
(d) The applicant must complete the form in accordance with the specified eligibility criteria, including Class, Gender, and Date of Birth. Additionally, the applicant is required to bring the Student Identity Card / Bonafide Certificate, bearing a photograph and attested by the Head of the Institution, issued by the recognized school where they are presently enrolled. This document should be presented at the Examination Centre along with the Admit Card issued by Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey UP Sainik School, Lucknow, in order to sit for the examination.
The Exam Supervisor at the examination centre will verify the particulars of the applicants by comparing the photo identity card brought by the applicant with the Admit Card issued by Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey UP Sainik School, Lucknow, for the entrance examination. If there is any discrepancy, the applicant will not be permitted to take the examination and their candidature will be revoked. The Exam Supervisor will document this on the attendance sheet next to the respective applicant. Please note that there will be no refund of examination fee in such cases.
The Admit Card comprises two sections/copies: the Applicant’s Copy and the School’s Office Copy. It is mandatory to submit the School’s Copy to the invigilator during the written exam.
(e) Parents/applicants are advised to exercise utmost caution while completing the application form. If, during verification or at any subsequent stage, incorrect entries or discrepancies are discovered, the candidacy may be rejected, and legal action may be taken against the guardian.
(f) Verification of eligibility conditions with reference to original documents is taken up only after the applicant has qualified for Interview/Admission and the candidature will be cancelled if any variations found, then the candidature is liable to be rejected and legal action will be initiated against the guardian.
(g) Applicants should be aware that once a Date of Birth has been claimed and entered in the records of the application form for admission purposes, no changes will be permitted subsequently under any circumstances. Any discrepancies found in the Date of Birth documents may result in the cancellation of the candidature.
